Job Description

Our Client is looking for a Shop Technician. The Shop Technician is responsible for making products that are custom-ordered and therefore are specialized products that require additional expertise, attention to detail, and high quality each and every time.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Assembles fabricated parts at different workstations
  • Assembly of Blanks and Cutter to pre-established guidelines
  • Uses hand tools and power tools to assemble units according to product specifications
  • Operates CNC Machine - loading fixtures, installing in machine; running programs, running offsets in the machine, changing /tweaking programs as needed
  • Operating various mechanisms/tools such as: Belt and Wheel Grinders, Surface Grinders, Axys Machine, Vertical Mill, Drilling tools, tapping
  • Designs jigs and fixtures for toolmaking
  • Tests and calibrates parts and mechanisms to meet tolerances and product specifications
  • Identifies units that fail tests or tolerance levels and repairs as necessary
  • Maintain monthly Maintenance Log on all hand and power tools, inspect monthly and keep log on equipment condition as it relates to safety and effective operation; notify Supervisor of faulty or failing equipment
  • Training New employees how to finish parts – deburring
  • Works under immediate supervision of the Shop Manager
  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the job
  • Position begins at level I and progresses with experience to level II and level III as assessed by manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required; Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or related field strongly preferred
  • One to two years manufacturing / machine operation / assembly / hand tools / CNC machines experience strongly preferred
  • Basic math and critical thinking skills
  • Detail-oriented mindset
  • Data entry and computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Understanding of safety protocols and requirements

Work Location & Schedule

  • 100% onsite
  • 40 hours/week

Physical Conditions of Employment

Sitting, standing and/or walking 80-90% time

  1. Kneel, crouch, reach, climb, walk, constant use of hands
  2. Reach with hands and arms (the employee frequently is required to stand and use hands to finger, handle, or feel)
  3. Ability to work on feet for long hours
  4. Normal or better vision and observance, attention to detail is required.
  5. Speak, hear, read, write in English
  6. Constant use of computer, keyboard and mouse
  7. Lift up to 40 pounds occasionally

Tools Utilized

  1. Personal computer and software systems such as ERP SysPro, Microsoft Office suite, etc.
  2. Standard office equipment: telephone, copier/scanner, and others as required.

Environmental Conditions of Employment

The work environment is a manufacturing setting where there is exposure to noise, dust, heat, cold, chemicals and manufacturing equipment.

Compensation

  • $18-30 per hour
